Krista + Connor Engagements in Ottawa, Ontario
An unexpected location
Can I let you in on a little secret? My session with Krista and Connor was one of my all-time favorites. I know, I’ve said that before. But this time, I literally just had to walk out my back door and into this session. I really love the fields behind my house and I was so glad to be able to shoot a couple there!
Ottawa summers are really some kind of magic. We had a beautiful night walking around private, wildflower-filled fields.
Krista was kind enough to let me in on a little background of their relationship! She and Connor met at work. They both work at a medical device company designing artificial heart valves. How cool, right?! Connor proposed to Krista down by the lake at his grandparents’ cottage. In fact, his parents had gotten engaged in the exact same spot! So romantic.
As a couple, Krista and Connor love to spend time hiking and camping. They are the ultimate chill, outdoors people and want their wedding day to reflect that. When I asked Krista what her dream wedding day is she said she wants everybody to be in flip flops, sundresses, and shoot sleeves. I love that! Their ceremony will be at Temples Sugarbush this summer—and I really can’t think of a better location for them!
While an empty field might not seem like a first choice location, it worked out perfectly. With good lighting and clever posing prompts, you can honestly make any location perfect for a photoshoot! You’d never know that there were dump trucks and half-built home lots surrounding us. All you see is a couple in love and beautiful flowers!
This engagement session was one of those shoots where I felt so insanely lucky about my life and my chosen career. We spent an hour shooting together and then 45 minutes after the shoot just sitting in the field, sharing a bottle of champagne and chatting about their upcoming wedding plans. I love that my clients are people I actually want to spend time with, not just work with. I’m so lucky and grateful!
