Chelsea + Jeremie Rideau Lakes Engagement || Portland, ON
Lakeside lovers
Chelsea and Jeremie are my kinds of people. They love being outdoors, especially by the lake, and wanted to make sure their engagement photos reflected that! We met up at Rideau Lakes in Ontario this summer on an overcast but lovely day.
I love getting to know how my couples met each other and how they ended up engaged! Chelsea and Jeremie were introduced by mutual friends five years ago. One of his good friends invited her over to a party, where Jeremie was also. They met for the first time that night and became friends! That friendship turned into dating and now here we are! They’ve been a couple for four years and clearly love spending time together <3
Spending time outdoors is really important to them. They love spending time with their friends and family by the lake, trying new things, and making memories!
Jeremie proposed to Chelsea in March 2020, literally the weekend before COVID shut everything down. The proposal was so sweet and thoughtful! Honestly, when they told the story it brought a few tears to my eyes! Jeremie brought Chelsea to her family cottage, where we shot this session and walked her down to the end of the dock. He knows just how special this cottage is to her and wanted to make sure the proposal was at a place they’ll both always remember.
Speaking of the cottage! From the moment Chelsea reached out to me, she knew she wanted to have their engagement session at her family cottage on Rideau Lakes. I actually grew up on the Rideau, just a few minutes from her family cottage via boat, so this session was right up my alley! Being an Ottawa Wedding Photographer means that most of my time is spent in the city, so I’m always extra thankful for evenings like these <3 We spent most of our time together down by the lakes on the dock. We all love being by the water so it just made sense! Even the neighbours passed by on the boat and gave them a cheers! (Hence the thumbs up!)
We had the absolute weirdest weather on our shoot day. It wasn’t raining, but it was dark enough that we were convinced it would start raining at any moment. Luckily the rain held off and we were able to take advantage of the beautiful fresh air.
I cannot wait to photograph these two when they get married at Stonefields this summer! They are such a gorgeous couple and I can only assume their wedding day will be just as stunning as they are <3
PS if you’re looking for a realtor, Chelsea’s your gal. She just sold my house last week and I can’t speak more highly of her!! <3
