Tessa + Jordan’s Engagement | Carleton Place, ON
First Session Back!
After over a year of rescheduling and cancelling shoots, nothing felt better than getting back in the saddle as an Ottawa engagement photographer. And there was nobody better to reintroduce me to the job I love than Tessa and Jordan! This Carleton Place engagement photo session brought together a bunch of “small world” moments in the best way. And maybe it was because the world rejoiced getting back to normal life or maybe it was the cutest pickup truck (more about that later!), but the session absolutely blew up my Instagram!
Tessa and Jordan are the epitome of down-to-earth. They met in college seven years ago and have been inseparable ever since! The pair thrive off of spontaneity and the simple joys in life, like laughing with friends and enjoying the outdoors. They are a pair of old souls who simply love to be together—and it’s easy to tell that this is the case by their Carleton place engagement photos!
So many elements of their engagement story and wedding plans have the most special meanings behind them. Jordan proposed in their living room, which is so meaningful because it was the living room of the home that they built together three years prior! They have planned a wedding inside of a tent that is going to be lit—by beautiful lighting and also by a huge dance floor where the couple plan to spend most of the night because they love to dance together. And for their engagement session, they brought Jordan’s dad’s teal 1967 F-100 pickup truck! Not only a family heirloom, people went crazy for this truck on social media. I received so many messages and comments talking about how cool it was!
Of course, this engagement photo session in Carleton Place couldn’t have happened without featuring their adorable pup, Odin! Odin is 100 percent to thank for me even working with Tessa and Jordan to begin with! Tessa works at the doggy daycare that my pups attend (shout out to Waggs and Whiskers!) and is the friendliest face that greets us each time we go. When we went through the booking process, we had a big “small world!” moment when realizing that I actually attended high school with Jordan; we graduated in the same year.
I had the best time photographing these two on their friend’s private property in Carleton Place. We took advantage of the perfect golden light and focused on natural, candid moments. Tessa wanted to capture lots of goofing around, so the pair shared some beers to help with the nerves, and we had the greatest time!
I am absolutely in love with the romantic and playful energy of this Ottawa engagement session and can’t wait for their wedding!
