I’m not going to lie… I miss the wedding day craze. I miss shooting couples laughing together, holding each other tightly and giving me a huge hug before leaving deep into the evening. I LOVE humans, but more importantly, human connection. I’m really hoping I’ll be the next business to open back up, but in the meantime, I’ll continue showing off more of 2019’s gorgeous wedding days!
Last August, I shot one of my favourite weddings ever. Considering I’m an Ottawa wedding photographer, I actually hardly shoot weddings downtown! Most of my couples opt to get out of the city for a different environment but I’m always thrilled when I have the opportunity to shoot wedding days in the city! Bryana + Calvin’s NAC wedding day started at the Lord Elgin, which is basically the best spot to get ready! The building itself is gorgeous and made the perfect easy location for their first celebration, a tea ceremony.
Following the tea ceremony, Bryana changed into her GORGEOUS Theia gown and surprised Calvin with a first look! Of course, he was speechless as he spun her around the Confederation Park across from the hotel. Since it was a beautiful summer day, we walked around the Chateau Laurier and Majors Hill park for bridal party and bride + groom formals! These two and their besties were BORN for magazine covers. Total bridal babes. Shoutout the guys for rocking the Sappers Staircase!
After shooting around downtown, we headed to the national arts centre where the two were tying the knot! My favourite member to attend? Their sweet pup, Dallas! He strut his stuff down the aisle, sat patiently during the ceremony and even barked RIGHT after his mom + dad sealed the deal with a kiss!
Bryana + Calvin chose, hands down, the most gorgeous reception room in Ottawa. The O’Born room in the NAC! It’s floor to ceiling windows flow the room with natural light and the night even ends with a gorgeous sunset peering in past the Chateau Laurier. Right before the speeches begin, we snuck out to the roof for a few couple portraits! Bryana + Calvin are the most stunning couple EVER and made everything look so flawless. The sunset session is a total must on wedding days, as by that time, your pros…and possibly a little tipsy ;)
Following the first dances, Bryana + Calvin surprised Bryana’s parents another ‘first dance’ for them, to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary!! I love when couples incorporate their sweet families into the weddings, especially by choosing such a special date to share!
