COVID Minimony on the Mississippi Lake
Kaytlin + Lee
Well, my first wedding of 2020 has come and gone. It may not of looked like every other wedding day, but it felt exactly the same. As you know, COVID took away the 2020 season from me (well, the first half at least). Thankfully, the second phase of opening Ontario back up included photographers! Despite the world pandemic, Kaitlyn + Lee still chose to celebrate love <3
I didn’t expect my first wedding of the year to be on June 27th….but I also didn’t expect to reschedule 70+ weddings into 2021 (ya’ll need to start praying for me already, LOL). Much like the rest of 2020, Kaitlyn + Lee’s wedding was a WILD storm! I started off the day with my bridal kit in hand, ready to style Kaitlyn’s invitations and jewellery! For the first time in a long time, I felt I was back in my groove!
Kaitlyn + Lee shared their promises to one another along the shores of the Mississippi Lake, with under 50 members of their family at their ‘minimony’. My fave two guests? Their little FREAKING ADORABLE fluffy girls, Lily + Ella! Yes, matching Pomeranians fit perfectly on a wedding day. With the dark clouds starting to roll in, we quickly documented the family and then the sweet couple shared their first champagne pop (pop? shower? definitely champagne shower.) as husband + wife! As an ottawa wedding photographer, I’ve documented my fair share of backyard weddings in the Valley, but the Hennigar’s lake house certainly made for the best backdrop! Seconds after we finished..the thunder cracked and the tropical storm arrived! Shoutout to the weather for holding out until the very last moment! <3
Much like SO many other couples, wedding planning was turned upside down for Kaitlyn + Lee! With all the changes + hoops you two had to go through, thank you for making my first wedding of the season SO easy <3 Y’all had the best practice for the big shabang in 2021!
