Taylor + Grant Engagements || Blacks Rapids Lockstation, Ottawa

It started with a sandwich…

Well…two more sweet faces that were originally supposed to get married in 2020! Taylor + Grant had to postpone their wedding due to COVID-19 and although they were disappointed, they looked on the bright side and saw it as an opportunity to grow their wedding budget! Meaning, they were able to score a spot in my calendar! Yay!! Their engagement session took place later in the summer while we waited for COVID restrictions to drop. Once we were in the clear to start working again, Taylor quickly booked their session.

Taylor loved the greenery and lighting at this location, Blacks Rapids Lockstation. It’s a perfect spot for an engagement session as it’s quite private, has a field, bridge, dock, water, and more!

Taylor + Grant met at school in Sudbury and their love started over a subway sandwich discussion, during which, Taylor knew she had met her husband! Taylor grew up in Ottawa, and Grant in Whitby. After Grant was done with his undergrad, he moved home and Taylor stayed in Sudbury. A year or so later, Taylor got her own apartment in downtown Toronto and began her Masters at U of T. Grant moved close-by and they spent their days biking up and down Yonge Street finding the best eggs benedict in the city! They later moved in together, got their first apartment, and then a puppy! After graduating from U of T, Taylor landed a full-time teaching position in Ottawa, which is where they packed up our things and settled down. Grant is currently attending school to be a firefighter while Taylor teaches at a Day Treatment program through the children's hospital.

Grant proposed last June at his family cottage on Georgian Bay! They were hosting an annual friends weekend, so Taylor had no clue it was even coming! When they all went to the beach to check out the water, one second Taylor was dipping her toes in the sand, and the next then she knew, Grant was down on one knee while all of their closest friends watched and captured the moment! It was perfect!

I am so glad Taylor + Grant booked me as their photographer as their wedding photographer in Ottawa. Their engagement session turned out so beautiful and were definitely worth the wait!
