Stonefields Estate Wedding
Kim + Kent
They say that rain on your wedding day means good luck, and after working as an Ottawa wedding photographer for many years, I can tell you that I have seen a lot of lucky couples! Kim and Kent are no exception. Though pouring rain on a wedding day is every bride’s worst nightmare, this Stonefields Estate wedding turned out absolutely beautifully— despite the weather! This really doesn’t come as a surprise, though, because every wedding at Stonefields is so pretty.
Kim and Kent’s autumn wedding was full of personal touches and heartfelt emotion. Set to a very fall palette of navy, maroon, and dark dusty rose, the event brought the perfect combination of coziness and elegance. The bridesmaids wore coordinating rompers during bridal prep, which was such a fun detail! They then transitioned into flowy bridesmaid dresses in similar color tones, and it all matched the florals and decor so well. Kim’s mom made them all darling shawls to help keep them warm in the November cold— such a thoughtful touch! And Kim even learned calligraphy specifically for the wedding so that she could do her own signage; it really looked professional!
The weather was some of the dreariest I have seen as an Ottawa wedding photographer. Although it didn’t lighten up all day, the venue allowed for the events to carry on seamlessly! Stonefields Estate weddings can take advantage of their gorgeous bright, white bridal suite, and this helped combat how dark it was outside. And the venue also offers a stunning backup location for ceremonies incase of inclement weather, the chapel. Kim and Kent chose to marry in the chapel regardless, and they decked out the space with greenery and candles to elevate the look.
After their emotional first look under the patio and tender ceremony, we fought the rain and did bridal party and formal portraits outside. You would never guess how dark and cold it was by looking at these photos! They were champs to handle the weather with smiles on their faces, and the glow of the lights actually adds a touch of romance to the photos. Kent and Kim then had their first dance outdoors underneath the strung bistro lights, and it was just the sweetest. The reception was filled with laughter and joy; a little bit of poor weather was not going to stop them from having a wonderful time!
Thank you for allowing me to capture your gorgeous day!
