A Summer Evening Engagement Session in Ottawa

If you’re a sweet couple of mine, you know that I think engagement sessions are crucial as they play a big role in the process. Engagement sessions not only give us practice before the wedding day but gives you a sense or realness…that “OMG, this feels so real now. This is actually happening!” moment!

However, sometimes crazy timelines and long distances make things just not possible! Since MJ and Mike were planning their wedding from a far, they sadly weren’t able to plan an engagement session with me prior to their wedding… but I’m so glad they decided to do an ‘after the wedding’ session while they were still in town a few days later!

MJ and Mike’s story is actually one of my favourites as it’s similar to how I met my boyfriend! The two met and fell for each other while vacationing in Cuba, which is crazy knowing MJ is from Cornwall and Mike’s from Windsor! Sometimes the love gods just put us at the right place with the right person <3

They were very open to location suggestions! As they’re not from Ottawa, they trusted my judgement as an Ottawa wedding photographer to choose the best location based off their vision. “We want greenery and water! Somewhere you love to shoot”. When it comes to location, I could honestly care less. I’m a people based photographer which means I’m focusing on capturing your real emotions, not the pretty trees in the background. BUT, a blacks rapids engagement sessions is just a bonus!

It was a warm summer evening that ended with a champagne celebration <3 Congratulations to MJ + Michael on your beautiful wedding last summer, your ‘after the wedding’ session and NOW preparing to welcome a little baby into the family!!
