Right about now, most of us are looking back to sunnier times, and for me as an Ottawa wedding photographer, summer wedding photos are bringing me back to sunny and joyful times! One of my favorite summer weddings took place in August, and just looking through these photos gives me all of the feels all over again!
Casey and Peter’s Perth, Ontario wedding was truly a dream to photograph. Not only was the event absolutely beautiful, but I can’t say enough good things about these two as a couple! I feel very fortunate to work with so many incredible couples as a wedding photographer in Ottawa. And when I think about my ideal client, Casey and Peter come to mind! I loved their enthusiasm about their wedding photos and how organized they are. It makes my job even better!
Their wedding day started at Clyde Hall Bed and Breakfast— the most darling little B&B in Lanark. It provided the most lovely backdrop; Clyde Hall is surprisingly huge with lots of natural light! I was able to take advantage of this and capture Casey’s classic bridal details. She designed her own wedding monogram that was tied into many details of the event. Her custom-made, monogrammed Mrs. Box in rose gold was such a special detail and so fun to photograph! During prep time, Peter surprised Casey with her own personalized Sens jersey, which was such a sweet gesture! And Casey gifted him socks with her face on it. Both will serve as amazing momentos from their big day!
We snuck in their first look right before a huge downpour! But we lucked out, and the sun came back out shortly after. After the first look, we captured all of their bridal party portraits in front of Clyde Hall. The house provided the most charming backdrop for these sweet photographs.
Their Timber Run Golf Course wedding ceremony brought all of the emotions! One of the most special moments occurred as Casey’s step dad walked her halfway down the aisle, where she met her dad, who escorted her up to Peter. The emotions continued to hit hard as Peter cried while watching her walk up the aisle. They were wed under the most incredible, giant wooden arch with an open green backdrop behind them.
The wedding was topped off with an exciting and emotive reception! They started the party off right by doing their first dance right after their grand entrance. I always recommend this to my clients because the photos consistently turn out better when there’s more natural light to work with! After a few sweet speeches about how Peter eyed up the cute blonde from work on her first day, we snuck outside for some sunset portraits.
Sunset portraits are almost always my favorite and so important! The pressure of all of the major events of the day has disappeared, so couples are always more relaxed. Pulling them away from the party allows for a cozy environment. This makes for the most romantic imagery. And naturally, the glowing sunset light is to die for! Casey and Peter’s sunset portraits are some of my favorite images from the day.
I really can’t emphasize enough how wonderful the day was! Casey and Peter’s wedding party were a total hoot. The champagne was always flowing, which just made everything more fun. They were down for anything, including the classic “lifting the groom up” shot! I joked that Casey would win Instagrammy of the year for stunning look. She hired two of the best MUA / hair stylist in the city, and she looked amazing with her loose, low bun and timeless makeup. Peter was her perfect match in his classic suit! The romantic florals, set in a palette of blush and green, tied their looks together so well. But you don’t have to take my word for it; the photos speak for themselves!
