Mont Tremblant Cottage Engagement
Jumping into love
What an adventure this engagement session was! I had so much fun photographing Ryan + Kyra and I was lucky enough to get to photograph them TWICE!
Ryan and Kyra met about 15 years ago. They grew up across the street from each other and their families were super close. They always had a mutual, unspoken crush on one another, but Ryan was a year-and-a-half younger than Kyra, so them dating was out of the question! Kyra always planned to date Ryan once they both graduated from high school, and sure enough, within a few weeks of Ryan graduating, they were dating. They got engaged on December 14th. Kyra was sure Ryan would propose on Christmas, but Ryan wanted to surprise her (which is hard to do) so he did it early, and the surprise worked!
Their first engagement session happened last summer but because of COVID they had to postpone their wedding from 2020 to 2021. With that… they decided to celebrate their wedding month with NEW photos together as they wanted to continue celebrating their (now extended….) engagement. Another reason for the second photo session is that it was raining a little bit during their first session with me last summer, so they wanted to have a second shoot to embrace the summer sunshine.
Well...I showed up to Kyra's family cottage in Mont Tremblant and it was unexpectedly the worst storm of the year. No!!!! We had to keep taking photos as the storm would settle for a bit and then go hide when it got bad again. We went back and forth like this several times! But, despite the storm, we had a beautiful session on their boat, which ended with really fun photos of them in the water with their cute little chi-pom-russell, Charlie. Plus, it was a really special location because they had a personal connection to it, so regardless of the weather, it was a fantastic engagement session!! Now…I don’t normally share before + after edits but for to show you just how dark it actually was, I’ve attached one below!! The storm was CRAZY. It was looking like 9PM by 5PM!
I am always up for an adventure, and this was certainly one. Between the storm and photographing on a boat and in the water, this was an engagement session I'll never forget!
