Sunflower Engagement Session at Sunset in Ottawa

The first time I ‘met’ Holly was over FaceTime and it was actually years before she was engaged. WHAT? I photographed her friends Amber + Paul’s wedding in 2017 and sadly Holly couldn’t make it… so she surprised Amber by FaceTiming in! {check out Amber+Paul’s 2017 Lago wedding here, FaceTime appearance made by Holly!!!}

Nearly two years later, Holly and Steve emailed me after just ten days of being engaged! Ten days! They were excited to plan, tell me about their ski trip proposal and eager to have me as their photographer!

Since I’ve been an Ottawa wedding photographer for nearly 9 years now, I do know A LOT of great locations! However, Holly and Steve chose their own location for their summer engagement session. They gave me an address and I just had to show up. I had no idea what to expect as it seemed like we were literally pulling over on the side of the road…. and we did just that.

I didn’t even know there were sunflower fields in ottawa! I had only been to one towards Brockville so was happy too see this GIANT sunflower field in Almonte! We started the session on a little trail nearby where we instantly saw the worlds SMILE carved into the dirt road! It was the absolute sweetest way to start a session :) Shoutout to Tanner {their dog!} for keeping us in line!
