Elegant, Rustic Stonefields Wedding Celebration
Is there anything better than a double wedding celebration?! You all know by now that as a Ottawa-based destination wedding photographer, I’m all about the sandy beaches and receptions under the palm trees, but I love to see when couples extend the celebration and continue the party at home for those who can’t make it to their destination weddings!
I met Ashley and Byron in 2015 when they were newly engaged; I had the chance to shoot their engagement photos and loved getting to know them! They told me at their session how they had always dreamt of a destination wedding, and you can imagine how excited I was when I got an inquiry the following year for their destination wedding in sunny Mexico! The pair wed in April 2017 in Mexico, and then they celebrated the following month back home in Canada for those who couldn’t make the trip to the beach for the actual wedding.
I was so grateful for the chance to shoot their Stonefields in Carleton Place wedding celebration this spring; it was such a joyful event at an incredibly romantic and rustic venue! Although Ashley and Bryon had no ceremony (since they were officially wed already!), they still had an energetic wedding party of eight each and participated in a lot of the standard wedding rituals. The girls and guys all prepped together with lots of laughter, champagne, and beer, and I was able to snag a lot of gorgeous detail shots in the meantime! Can you believe her gorgeous ring?! Love that halo!
I loved their simplistic and classy style with so many elegant details. Ashley chose a color palette of neutrals, grey, black, and white, and the bridesmaids looked so pretty in their flowy grey gowns. They looked perfect with the dapper groomsmen (can’t get enough of those bow ties!), and Ashley looked absolutely stunning in her lace gown, with her garden-style bouquet and flowy hairstyle. The reception site looked amazing with tons of little details; my favorite was their pretty cake with the custom cake toppers of their cute dogs! They are a couple after my dog-loving heart!
They kicked off the celebration by showing a video of their wedding in Mexico, and then the night continued with so many happy wedding activities! We had so much fun capturing wedding party photos and portraits in a beautiful backdrop, and these photos will round out any wedding albums that they choose to have perfectly. I love that they’ll have Ottawa wedding portraits in their attire to enjoy and to share with their families!
