Nicole + Greg Wedding || Boulter, Ontario

Nicole + Greg

Throughout my career as an Ottawa wedding photographer, I have been privileged to see how couples tie sweet and sentimental details from their love stories into their wedding days. From nods to past trips together to family heirlooms and love songs, I love having the opportunity to witness the unique ways couples make their Ontario weddings their own.

Nicole and Greg did just this in their summer backyard wedding in Ontario. Their wedding was elegant and incredibly thoughtful, down to the last detail. The pair chose Nicole’s family property as a setting for their big day because it was the same exact location where  her parents wed 34 years prior. You can’t honor family more than that! The backdrop was not only stunning, but it brought all of the feels for everyone there. Nicole recalls the best memories, growing up there alongside cousins, aunts, and uncles. They held their ceremony at her grandmother’s house with beautiful lakeside views. This was complemented beautifully with a simple arbor and garden-inspired white florals. After the ceremony, guests transitioned to a luxurious tented reception in Nicole’s childhood backyard. Family legacy filled this backyard Boulter, Ontario wedding at every turn.

It only seemed fitting to get married in such a significant location, as Nicole and Greg grew up in the same small town of Bancroft. They actually went to daycare together when they were toddlers! After reconnecting in university, they have been together for nine years ever since! They love to return to Bancroft on the weekends to visit family and friends, and I could definitely feel that energy as I photographed their lovely Ontario wedding.

The couple share a love for Italy and a special connection to Positano, so this was also incorporated into the event! They got engaged in Positano in 2019 in the most idyllic way. After arriving at the coast from Rome, they checked into their Air BNB and stepped out onto the terrace to take in the views. When they kissed, Nicole recalls feeling Greg’s lips shaking! She asked if he was nervous, and he responded yes, then got down on one knee. This was a huge surprise for her; she didn’t see it coming at all! It was a perfect proposal, so they had to pay tribute to this at their wedding. They personalized fresh, Italian lemon drinks for an escort wall as the cutest nod to their engagement!

So many precious moments took place throughout the wedding, and the couple brought the best vibes all day. Nicole and Greg chose to skip a first look and instead wrote letters to one another, then read them while holding hands on opposite sides of a door. Despite the crazy downpour during family portraits, nobody stressed too much; there was just too much happiness and too pretty of views to care!

The couple looked gorgeous and chose classically beautiful wedding details. It was apparent how loved they are because there wasn’t a dry eye on several occasions throughout the day! I loved being able to capture the start of their own family legacy as an Ottawa wedding photographer and love these photos!
