Reception
Home stretch, friends. Your #bestdayever is juuuuuuust about wrapped up, or maybe just getting started! Along with the ceremony, I’m pretty hands off during the reception -- unless it’s to kindly keep you on schedule or preach it’s time for sunset photos! After your grand entrance, it’s super common for couples to do their first dance ASAP. Rip that sucker off like a bandage. Preforming your first dance right after you enter not only still has the room filled with natural light, but means your partner will be more comfortable for the remainder of the night -- knowing they don’t STILL have a first dance. You will still do the father/daughter and mother/son dance later in the evening, which will get people onto the dance floor!
Make sure you have an MC, or a good DJ who is will to be your MC! The MC will keep us on schedule, announcing events and new speeches! I suggest doing speeches between courses and giving your friends + family a speech limit, as I’ve had an unexpected 45 minute father of the bride speech once, which put us behind schedule, leading for more coverage to be added on last minute. Wah.
Depending on the time of the year {when the sun sets!}, I’ll pull you + your partner out of the reception for a quick five minute sunset session! This normally happens when the dessert is being served or the room is being altered for the dancing portion. These photos are normally my favourite as by this point, you’ll feel like PROS. Plus, the slight buzz from dinner drinks will make you that much more snuggly ;) These photos will give you a totally different feel, compared to earlier in the day. These photos will have a soft, warm, sunset glow to them and will give you alllllll the romance feels! We’ll be super quick and get you back to the party after!
Some couples like to end the night off with a sparkler exit! Even though you won’t ACTUALLY be leaving the party, it’s a cute way to close your gallery! I’d suggest purchasing the LONG sparklers for your guests to hold and/or have the cute string lights/Edison bulbs set up outside for a final first dance, just the two of you… well and me… <3 {thank you Strathmere + Stonefields!}
OMGOSH. THAT IS IT!! The next section will provide you with everything you need to know engagement session wise but that is it for the wedding day! If you think I’m missing anything, have any questions, or just have suggestions for this guide, PLEASE drop me a line as I’m wanting to provide only the best for my couples! <3 If you read through all of this, have an additional glass of wine on me tonight -- you deserve it, fiancé!
